TundraClan 3.0

Welcome to the cold lands of TundraClan, intrepid frostbiters! To know if we are open, please join our Discord for the latest updates.TundraClan 3.0 is the remake of a cold-Clans mature warrior cats roleplay that is Discord based and aims for character development and art creation. The roleplay is only for those who are 16+; please know, that this roleplay mostly has older (18-21) members and mods.

Lore

The TUNDRACLAN of today is actually a mish-mash of four Clans and outsiders in the current timeline. A Warrior Cats roleplay focused about cats surviving in the harsh cold.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT TUNDRACLAN
- TundraClan is about cats that live in the cold, so cats that are thinly furred or furless are not accepted (short but dense/thick fur is fine!). Otherwise, there are no restrictions on pelt color, eye color, ears, number of toes, or hybrid heritage. For more about restricted traits, please refer to the GETTING STARTED section of this Carrd.- Names can relate to things that are commonly found in cold areas. Names can also be unique or unusual. Cats with tropical or desert names (i.e. Lava or Palmleaf) will be asked to change their name.- There is only a single Clan, so cats outside the Clan (kittypets, loners, rogues) do not have a role except for plot use by the mods and OG's.- To implement a smooth transition of new cats into the roleplay, new characters can only be introduced as kits or cats outside the Clan via tryouts. Please be patient for group openings if you're keen on joining!- Medicine cats are called HEALERS in this roleplay, to avoid appropriating the 'medicine man' stereotype. Healers only have healing knowledge and do not have a stronger spiritual connection to StarClan than any other Clan cat. There can be a maximum of three healers at once in the Clan, and healers are not restricted from taking a mate or having kits provided there is another healer in their steed.- The role of queens are replaced with CARETAKERS, cats of any identity who take care of the Clan's kits. After the glacier, many young kits and various other cats found themselves without family or needing a supporting shoulder through rough times. Caretakers not only care for kits so that nursing warriors can return to their duties, but provide therapy and company to cats who need it. Things like a good talk session, a nest-mate, or a companion when they are uncomfortable walking alone, caretakers provide a support system to the Clan in the harshest of times. A caretaker can live either in the nursery or warriors den.- There are many subsets to being a warrior. While cats are trained in all aspects of life, some cats excel at one job, and titles are given out to cats who prefer to work within their subset. These include hunters, guards, builders, and the soon to be scouts. Each of these specialized jobs sometimes have a representative accessory, in the form of different flowers, animal parts, etc.- Though TUNDRACLAN is a single Clan, due to the history of merging Clans, there are multiple high-ranking cats working together to make decisions until times are stable again. Deputies have stepped down to become senior warriors with a highly valued opinion and there are more healers than usual. Currently, there are three leaders heading the Clan, and a single deputy is being decided upon to ultimately take over the Clan should the leaders pass on.

HISTORY

CHAPTER ONE. - THE CLANS' CALAMITY
There were four Clans - originally TundraClan, TaigaClan, TrenchClan, and AlpClan. TundraClan cats raced along the frozen moors, TaigaClan lived in perpetually dark evergreen forests, TrenchClan lived alongside the dark ocean, and AlpClan secluded themselves in the mountainside. The Clans all lived within the harsh cold wilderness, competing against each other, until a terrible calamity befall them all. Their home was destroyed after a glacier ran through their territories, killing most of them and scattering the rest. The survivors who gathered decided to move together to a new home, and preserve their way of life. The unheeded prophecy by Flickerpaw and ignoring Flintstar's call for action led to the most destruction that could have possibly happened.

CHAPTER TWO. - NEW HOME & CONFLICTS
Finding a new home, the next order of business after they settled was to decide how the Clans would operate. There were only enough cats to barely support one Clan, so they decided to merge into one-- TundraClan, as it was Flintstar who had originally listened StarClan's warning about the glacier. The three remaining leaders, Flintstar, Cragstar, and Jaystar, join forces to make a new council. Any surviving previous deputies step down so that a new deputy can be decided on in the future. But there is still dissatisfaction from this merging of Clans that may arise in the future....
Stormwatcher & Autumnpatch have their kits, the first litter in new TundraClan.

CHAPTER THREE. THE RETURNEES
After the glacier, many of the cats thad heeded Flintstar's warning of the coming glacier were able to regroup together to find a new home. But some cats weren't able to make it to the meeting spot on time, so they lingered for another hazardous moon in the old territories. It was here Quailstar, the TaigaClan leader after the late Rainstar's reign, led this leftover group of cats, dubbed returnees, on the trail of new TundraClan. Blackriddle and Cougarhowl bring them to meet up with the rest of the Clan cats, but with a moon passed it seems that a lot of changed...
Shadows lick around the edges of the territory.

CHAPTER FOUR. STORMING WOLVES
Lives for a Life by Tyoka. Major gore & death warning
Primpaw and Stormwatcher barely warn the Clan of danger before two starving wolves crash through the barrier. The fight favors TundraClan, until a white wolf emerges and kills Stormwatcher. The cats successfully defend their home, but they have lost a Clanmate, and Cougarhowl has ran off to pursue the wolves when the Clan has decided against revenge.

CHAPTER FIVE. DIRT ON OUR NAMES
It's been a quarter-moon since Cougarhowl was last seen. He comes back bearing the body of the gray wolf and the white wolf’s head. While many cats are glad that revenge has been doled out, it was against the Clan’s decision to do so, and some are worried about incurring the white wolf’s pack’s anger. The next day, the leaders call for the first meeting since the wolves, promoting Weaselstep as deputy, holding a vigil for her former Clan, FlickerClan, as well as Stormwatcher, and promoting Primpaw. But the she-cat suddenly interjects, choosing her own name, Dirtdog, and denouncing the merging of the Clans. She uses Cougarhowl’s actions as leverage, and when Quailstar, her leader at TaigaClan, asks about her decision and StarClan, she spits and also condemns them. This causes some cats to stir, as it’s true; they have lost their connection to StarClan without a moon place…
Dirtdog attacks Cougarhowl, and in his defense he injures the she-cat. They're both put under punishment, but there’s controversy to this: some cats support Primpaw and think Cougarhowl should be punished harsher, while other cats thank Cougarhowl for his help in the wolf attack and don’t think he deserves any punishment as it was self-defense.
Stormwatch & Autumnpatch's kits are apprenticed. Watersedge and Blackriddle have their kits.

CHAPTER SIX. SHYPAW'S INJURY AND PUDDLECLAW'S PURPOSE
Puddleclaw and Flinthound take their apprentinces, Saplingpaw and Shypaw, out to train. They wander a bit too close to the far mountains...and are attacked by wolves. Fighting for their lives, they survive--but with major injuries...Shypaw is now blinded and Puddleclaw is severely injured. It seems like the wolf problem is still plaguing the clan...

CHAPTER SEVEN. SPRING GIFT GIVING
The Clan, despite everything happening, want to celebrate the warmer weather! WIth new friendships and possibly even relationships from new cats joining their ranks and Clan borders erased, TundraClan honors each other by giving little gifts that’s found in the springtime and in their new home. Many new kits and apprentices rank up to add to the ranks of new TundraClan.

CHAPTER EIGHT. THE MOONGROVE
Two warrior apprentices, Silkpaw and Acornpaw, and a healer apprentice, Flickerpaw, are found missing one morning. After searching for a day and a half, the three come back with an announcement...they had found the clan's moon place, called the Moongrove. After receiving a harrowing dream, Flickerpaw and his closest confidants raced off to find this connection to StarClan, with the words echoing in Flickerpaw’s mind below:
“Seek the timeless tree
that no longer grows its own skin.
Hidden within,
it holds dear the frozen sea.
Seek with all four paws, not three
Or suffer consequences and sin.”

CHAPTER NINE. A TRIP TO THE TWOLEGPLACE
The first winter for TundraClan is going to be harsh. The Clan doesn't know the hibernation habits in this new territory, and with the wolves a looming threat at the edges of their home, the leaders suggest going to the Twolegplace. An old tradition in the old Clans, an expedition to the ever-rich Greatgift may prove to be fruitful. But along with food and materials, the Twolegplace offers something else...

Aging and Rank-ups

Kits age up 1 moon every 2 weeks, thus are kits for 12 weeks. If you'd like to plot something for your kit that could possibly give them a restricted trait or hold them back from ranking up, please go to the tickets channel in our Discord and click on 'Plan a Plot' !

Apprentices age 1 moon every 4 weeks. Apprentices can rank up into warriors at a minimum of 10 moons, and can stay as apprentices for a maximum of 18 moons. Thus, apprentices stay as such for 4 - 12 months.
Please know, that ranking up your apprentice into a warrior slows down their aging. Apprentices who graduate at 10 moons will age like warriors while apprentices who stay to train will continue to age at the 1 moon every 4 weeks.
When ranking up, please go to the tickets channel on our Discord and click on 'Plan a Plot' to state you'd like your apprentice character to graduate. In the ticket you can tell us the name you'd like for your character, along with a reason for their new suffix. Or, if you aren't sure, names/reasons can be suggested for you to choose, or you can keep it as a complete surprise! The mods will choose a fitting new warrior name at the next Clan meeting.
If an apprentice is over 18 moons and their player is unresponsive about their status, that apprentice will be moved to the permapaw (permanent apprentice) rank and will stay as a mentor-less apprentice until their player resumes activity or until the end of their life. Permapaws are like NPCs, but cannot be used for events-- they will simply sit there and are assumed to do apprentice duties in roleplay.

Warriors age according to plots in roleplay, and can be warriors for a maximum of 120 moons old or 60 months. Warriors can retire anytime before the maximum age if they wish. This is so that aging can be according to any highs or lows the roleplay has instead of being pushed forward by time.

Cats outside the Clan (COtC) age depending on what moon they entered the Clan as. All COtC aged 10 moons and younger must be apprentices. If a COtC entered from before 18 moons, the player can request they age like an apprentice. If they entered 19 moons and older, they age like other warriors.
COtC do not need to change their names when they start training or become warriors. There is no in-roleplay backlash for in-training COtC to not take up the suffix -paw, as they are adjusting to Clan life, but COtC who become warriors and do not adhere to the Clan naming system may be frowned upon by some character in-roleplay, regardless of their name's background. Besides in-character relations, you can always ask for your cat to not take up a traditional warrior name with no repercussions!
For a COtC to be considered fully apart of the Clan, they must have lived in the Clan for 3 moons. Once 3 moons have passed in roleplay, your character can request a name change and have a two-part Warrior name at any time. To request a name change, go to the tickets channel in our Discord and click on 'Plan a Plot' !

Elders age according to plots in roleplay and are elders for a maximum of 200 moons old before they pass onto StarClan.

Getting Started

Thinking about joining TundraClan? Head over to our Discord (linked in the footer below) to get access to all our resources and check out the group!

Once you're in the server, make sure the group is open to new members and what roles are open. Be sure to read the rules as well. This roleplay is only for those who are 16 and older. To know if the group has an opening, there will be a pinned opening in the #submit-characters or #tryouts channels-- if there isn't, then we aren't currently open!

Head over to the LORE section of this Carrd to read up on what TundraClan is about. Reading the Clan's history isn't needed, as most members will be joining as kits or as loners/kittypets outside the group, but please understand and read things to know about TundraClan! The roleplay is based in a cold climate and has a single Clan, so cats outside the Clan (kittypets, loners, rogues) don't usually have a use for the roleplay, and cats with tropical or desert names do not usually fit (i.e. Lava or Palmleaf)

With that, it's onto making your cat! There are two ways to join the roleplay: tryouts for a new character slot, or auditions for kit litters. If you are auditioning for a kit litter, check out the tryouts channel in the Discord and please follow the guidelines for that kit's design.
If you are trying out for a new character, make sure your cat isn't breaching any restrictions and that there are positions open! Feel free to ask in the Discord's QnA channel if there are any open positions.

Once the design of your cat is finalized, it's time to write them up! All you need to do is to write a biography for your cat with an accompanying reference image. Images do not need to be drawn at all, and can be from a picrew/cat maker, a photo of a cat, or on a base, as long as you are not stealing the image as yours.

SHOP

Welcome to the SHOP!

It's called the shop for ease, but there's no actual currency to be earned in this group. Here is where you can find the guidelines for adding onto your character.
There's no storage of obtained items beyond an approval because we want to encourage players to focus on character development without worrying about grinding for currency (and also because we don't want to make a bank).
To request for any of the items below, just go onto the Discord's QnA to ask for anything!

CHARACTER SLOTS
No requirements are needed to obtain a new character, just tryout! The max number of playable characters a person can have is 5, unless approved otherwise. NPCs and elders do not count as playable characters.

PLOTS
Interested in planning out an event that centers around your character and drags others into the plot? Here are the general expectations to know before asking the mod team if your plot is valid -
Plots are not personal and actively effect other characters, whether players or NPCs. if you cat is going through a hard time and has a shift in personality that is not group plot, but if your cat were to lash out and attack others, that would be plot-worthy!
Plots cannot glorify your cat or make them overpowered past the event.
During an event, please be aware that scars, death, and retirements can occur to any cats, including your character.
If you'd like to kill off your character, please also treat it as plot. If you don't have an idea for how you'd like your character to be removed from roleplay, feel free to leave it up to the mods.
More to be announced

SCARS
Small scars obtained from training, skirmishes, or general accidents are always free. No need to ask for them or wait for an event to apply them to your character!
Medium scars that are not simple nicks in the character's fur or ears can be obtained from events that are being hosted by the group. They are free, but can only occur during events.
Large scars that disfigure a cat's image and strip them of their fur or functionality must be approved by moderators and can only be obtained from events.

RESTRICTED TRAITS
blind 0/1
deaf 0/1
mute 0/1
full wildcat 1/1
gigantism 1/2
dwarfism 0/2
~ crippled cat 0/2
These traits are only granted after a player has at least developed their character into that of a seasoned warrior and are in good standing with the group. Showing activity and understanding of the above traits, especially for disabilities that are not purely for aesthetics, allows the mods to consider you to have these traits. Traits are granted on a case by case basis. If you think you meet the requirements for a restricted trait, please contact a mod requesting the trait for consideration.

BREEDING
So you're looking for some kits now? Read these guidelines on obtaining a litter!
Couples, and even throuples, do not need to be male/female or need a donor to have kits; anyone is eligible to have kits regardless of identity.Cats do not have to be mates to have kits, but all parties must give their permission for their character to have kits. Litters formed from dubious reasons will not be allowed. All cats having a litter must be over 25 moons old.For a couple to be eligible, a roleplay log with at least 500 words or a bust/half-up piece of the cat pair must be presented when asking for the first litter. For each subsequent litter, the same requirements are to be presented.A cat can only have a max of 3 litters throughout their life [subject to change]. This means a cat can have at least 3 surviving kits, or up to 15 surviving kits.A kit litter cannot have more than 5 kits at once and will always have at least 1, and must resemble their parents/relatives somewhat. No realism or proper genetics needed.
Litters will be rolled for; just ask for a mod to roll for the litter size. You will be given three rolls and you can choose the amount of kits you'd like from those three rolls.
NPC'S
NPC's can have any temperament and may be subjected to plot use with the creator's permission.
To fit in with TundraClan's lore, most cats who are not actively played are presumed dead or missing, but if you'd like to create NPC's for the parents of a cat, feel free to request that.If you'd like to create NPC's as apart of a rogue or kittypet's background, feel free to request that. When requesting for an NPC, you will need to give a name, pronouns, brief appearance, and temperament towards the Clan (like, dislike, neutral).Leaving the group or hiatus
As a player with characters in the RP, you may be wondering what happens to your cat if you decide to leave or go on hiatus.
If you go on a hiatus, your cat will not be affected by any ongoing events, but your cat will be affected by aging, and going on hiatus too long may cause them to die of old age. Please check the aging and rank-ups section of this carrd to see more. Once you come back from hiatus, your characters are assumed to be apart of events that have happened, but took a bystander position; you cannot go back and have them interact with others or insert them into pivotal plot points. They were simply extras in the event. If you are leaving the group, your characters have two options:
- You can leave the group with your characters (if they are allowed to do so; please remember some kit litters do not allow their kit designs to be taken from TundraClan) which means that the group will have them killed off or left the Clan in roleplay permanently. You can suggest a way for your cat to have left the Clan, but otherwise it is up to the group to choose how your cat leaves the Clan.
- You can make your characters NPC's. This surrenders the character to the group, allowing any mods or OGs to take control of the character and design like their own character; they can be uploaded to toyhouse/deviantart/etc and will not be in your possession. NPC's can be used for plot and may be killed off. If you do return to the group and want to reclaim your characters that were NPC'd, you are allowed to do so, but must re-assume everything that has happened to the NPC, including current plot and relationships.
